Peter James head chef and owner of The Drovers has won many awards in the UK as well as being featured in several magazines from around the world.

In the attractive beamed restaurant with a licensed cocktail bar overlooking the river Irfon you will find Mid-Wales, award winning chef Peter James and Patisserie chef Paulette Reed and their team. They will all be ready to offer you freshly prepared local produce along with homemade and traditional Welsh foods.

Throughout the week and especially weekends, Peter puts on his extensive menu, offering an a la Carte, bistro and Gourmet menus along with an extensive wine list, with his genuine warmth and hospitality, welcoming all of his guests.

PETER REWARDED FOR HIS PASSION FOR GREEN TOURISM



Success was on the menu for The Drovers Rest Restaurant and Cooking School, Llanwrtyd Wells at the Powys Business Awards. The business was delighted to win the Green Tourism Award supported by Sustainable Tourism Powys www.tourismpowys.org.

The judges were impressed by the attention to detail throughout the business, which is owned and run by Peter James, who was “over the moon” to receive the award.

This attention to detail includes energy saving, using recycled and locally procured products, promoting walking and cycling to its guests and the way expertise is shared in the successful Cooking School, which can accommodate courses for people with disabilities.

“We have been striving for an award like this for quite a few years,” said Mr Peter. “We are passionate about green tourism and we now being rewarded for our achievements. This award will take us to another level.”

The judges commented about the business’s considerable involvement in community events related to sustainability, including Llanwrtyd Wells Food Festival, Rhayader 2000 and Local Food Talks.
